Date yourself

Do you know you? I mean, truly know YOU. I thought I did...until I went through the roughest season in my life several years ago.

It was a dark season. A season of the unknown. I found myself to be a single mom of 2. In those moments, I had to re-prioritize my life, and had a chance to get to know me; who I was. Getting to know yourself is not always the easiest because when you’re in a relationship, you become accustomed to “sharing” your life, to labeling yourself as a part of someone else.

In that lonely season, it was dark and confusing. I had to get to know me again. The whole me. It wasn’t as easy as I had thought.

A friend often said “date yourself”. You start to question yourself in the mirror during those dates. “Who are you?” “What do you like?” “What makes you happy?” “What will people think?” “What does God think of me?”

To know your worth is to be able to know who you are, then love you for all of it, flaws inclusive. Flaws are what make you beautiful. Don’t offend Your Maker with senseless alterations.

To know that God has created you and said it is “very good”. And to give yourself to your creator because He knows how to mold you.

To respect yourself.

Love yourself.

Stand for what you believe in and not sell yourself short for it.

Be real with yourself (and others) and not care or worry too much about what others think. “Love me for who I am or hate me for who I’m not.”

Be comfortable in your own skin [but don’t show it🤪] and not in someone else’s. God created us all differently, for HIS purpose, not our own.

✨You’d really have to get to know the one who created you. God knew you before He even formed you. That’s how valuable you are.

Child of God - If you’re in a season of dating yourself, know this - the God we serve has all the answers to who you are. He’ll tell you, you are more precious than rubies. You are the heart of your home. You are a royal priesthood! You are set a part! You are created in His image💜

Don’t settle for how this world says you should look, what you should say, how you should speak, etc. You’ll find what you’re looking for in Jesus
