Secret Place

When you hear these words, “secret place”, what are your first thoughts? Do you immediately think of a physical place you go to to get away from real-life problems? Do you think about a prayer room? Do you think about you & your spouse’s ‘getaway’ spot? 

A secret place is described as a place you go to, to escape from whatever it is you want to get away from.

You may have thought of one of those places mentioned above…or may not have. I know of a place where most people go to alone. A place where we choose who can enter and who are not allowed.

Our secret place is somewhere we don’t even really consider a legitimate place. But, trust me…it’s legit!

The mind.

We escape into our minds not only when we’re alone but we have control to go to our secret place even in the midst of a crowded room. Yes. This is where we go to escape. You see, because here…we can be ourselves. Here, we can choose what enters in and choose what to keep out. There are barriers in our secret place.

The mind. It’s powerful. On our most wonderful days, we can go to our secret place and replay the beautiful moments of life. Yet on our most horrendous days, we can go to our secret place and re-live the ugliest, most darkest times in our lives to pile on the mood. 

Secret place. We all have this secret place we venture off to.

Psalm 91:1 says, He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

We should all strive to create a space reserved specifically for the Lord. A secret place for Him; where we may always find rest and refuge. Where we will find security and love. 

Today, allow yourself to exit that secret place and find your secret space in God, the Lord Almighty.

Scar | a mark remaining, indicating a wound that was once there. An old wound that has healed. A scar tells more of one’s story beyond what we see. Scars mark the wounds that a person has been inflicted with. From the outside, it looks like it has closed, mended and healed fine. PIVOTING IN TRANSITION

What do you do when, by nature, you’re forced to pivot ? I’m finding myself in a pivotal season.   Last year, when the Lahaina fire happened, we were in Cali, bringing one of our sons to college. This year, during the anniversary of it, we brought our daughter to college in Utah. We now have 5 of our kids living in different states, and 2 daughters here at home who will also be navigating this new season in their own way as well. We are tasked with a Kingdom assignment. We’ve always been good at pivoting when necessary, and have always rolled with whatever changes came and kept on moving.
