PIVOTING IN TRANSITION
What do you do when, by nature, you’re forced to pivot?
I’m finding myself in a pivotal season.
Last year, when the Lahaina fire happened, we were in Cali, bringing one of our sons to college. This year, during the anniversary of it, we brought our daughter to college in Utah.
We now have 5 of our kids living in different states, and 2 daughters here at home who will also be navigating this new season in their own way as well.
We are tasked with a Kingdom assignment. We’ve always been good at pivoting when necessary, and have always rolled with whatever changes came and kept on moving. But for some reason, in this particular season, I want to embrace every pivotal move. I want my feet to feel the faith of every pivot.
What do you do when life calls you to pivot? Does your feet stay planted in the comfort of knowing what’s next, who’s around, the warm setting of atmosphere, the familiar faces, as time and everything around you changes? Or do you challenge yourself to step into the unknown, accepting the tides are changing, the waters are rising and heed to nature’s ever-changing system?
In this season, the word “kintsugi” comes to mind, which means “join with gold” — the Japanese art of repairing broken objects, often ceramic pottery or glass. every part of my life can be categorized into compartments of: sadness, joy, excitement, anxiousness, curiosity, worry…these are all compartmentalized in my heart. Each joined (or tied) to my faith in my God.
There are so many factors of this faithful season. My mama bear heart of an adult child, a college-aged child and a 10 year old child is met with a Preacher’s wife heart with a burning desire to see the souls in my community saved.
During all of this pivoting came divine appointments, miraculous happenings, and timely provisions.
Pivoting in transition. We saw what that looked like in 2020 when everyone was forced to pivot. Now to pivot again…personally. This time, pivoting not only in stance, but in faith. In what direction do I point my faith?
UPWARDS.
Ecclesiastes 3:1
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
There’s a purpose to every pivot, even when we can’t see God’s plan in its entirety. To pivot will sometimes require you to sacrifice more time, money, praying, fasting, reading, studying the word of God. God will reveal His plan during times of sacrifice and consecration.
Pivoting can be scary.
It’s essential to continue in God’s word, fervent prayer & fasting to be able to hear His still small voice.
Submitting to every process of this pivotal season and trusting that God holds the blueprint of my journey.
